JOB SUMMARY

Assists the Financial Controller in managing overall responsibility for ensuring the completeness and accuracy of the Bank’s General Ledger ensuring delivery of its objectives. Includes preparation of financial accounts in accordance with IFRS, maintaining a comprehensive set of controls designed to mitigate risk and any other internal financial reporting required.

KEY WORK OUTPUT AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Ensures that the General Ledger is accurately maintained to enable the department to ensure monthly management accounts are prepared accurately and timely – including booking manual entries for ECL/IFRS 9, tax accruals and other manual processes

• Maintaining the monthly month-end checklist and reviewing the month end process

• Ensures the Bank’s books of accounts conform to statutory regulations and IFRSs and reflect the Bank’s up-to-date financial state of affairs

• Oversees the maintenance of the integrity of the general ledger and reporting systems – this includes set up of new accounts, deletion of dormant accounts and maintenance of GL mappings

• Assist the Financial Controller with the preparation of the annual financial statements, including being responsible for the preparation of individual note disclosures

• Provide responses and data for external and internal audits. In particular, in respect the year end audit builds a strong relationship with the external auditors to manage their requirements ensuring audit requests are completed in a timely manner

• Maintain strong financial controls to be the 1st line of defence in respect of the integrity and accuracy of financial information. Including managing daily controls such as the Daily P&L and Balance sheet review; account ownership reviews; daily FX sell down and redenomination of currency. This includes the responsibility for following up any issues identified and appropriate escalation.

• Manage the Bank’s quarterly balance sheet substantiation process escalating to the Financial Controller any issues / weaknesses.

• Review the company’s tax return and responsible for the calculation and accounting treatment of deferred tax

• Along with other members of the financial control team perform and review risk control self-assessments (RCSAs)

• Analyse changes in accounting requirements and new business initiatives to ensure both are corrected recorded and recognised in the Bank’s accounting records.

• Participate and contribute to ad-hoc projects.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Qualified Accountant ideally ACA or ACCA with strong background in IFRS

• A minimum of 5 years post qualification experience ideally in banking / financial services

• Strong controls background with experience in either external or internal audit

• Good data and numeracy skills with attention to detail with ability to maintain accuracy at all times

• Good communication and interpersonal skills

• Knowledge of taxation

• The ability to work autonomously and take initiative in particular building / developing new processes and controls as the Bank’s systems or business change and evolve

• Strong organisational skills with the ability to ensure efficiency whilst balancing priorities
