BACB is an international wholesale bank. We provide international trade solutions to clients who want to trade in and out of developing markets.

Based in London, we benefit from our position in the world’s leading financial market. Our location helps us forge close links with the global banking community, and gives us access to multilingual staff with expertise in all aspects of international banking. We have offices in Abidjan, Algiers and Tripoli, plus active relationships in many other countries across Africa and further afield, giving us even closer proximity to those with whom we do business.

Our approach is characterised by the bespoke nature of our service, and by our absolute commitment to a long term, highly effective and personal relationship with all our clients. This approach is endorsed by more than 40 years’ experience in international finance.

Established in 1972, BACB is a UK-registered public limited company. We’re authorised by the Prudential Regulation Authority and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority and the Prudential Regulation Authority. BACB is owned by three sovereign shareholders.

A passion for helping clients, a capacity for trying harder

In a nutshell

We’re bankers of course, but we don’t see ourselves in the mould of other international banks. Our strength isn’t in our size, though we’re large enough to provide an effective, professional and tailored service. Instead, our strengths lie in our unrivalled understanding of the markets and companies we serve, and our appetite for going the extra mile.

Our size gives us greater agility and flexibility, and by working in partnerships with banks in the counties where we operate, we can provide support where many larger banks do not.

Our primary focus is on facilitating trade flows in and out of Africa and the Middle East. We’ve developed considerable understanding of the practices, cultures and regulations in these areas and can offer a service that’s truly responsive to the needs of businesses there. Our international business knowledge is backed by in-country experts allowing us to provide a high level of personal service.

Making a difference

We’ve been helping companies in developing markets to trade internationally with confidence for over half a century. Many of our customers are companies who, because of their size or location, find larger banks unwilling to help them.
