Job Summary

Providing specialist expertise and in- depth analysis of Large Corporates, Real Estate and Islamic Finance products. A strong working knowledge of counterparties and insurance companies would be preferred.

The role holder will also be expected to build strong working relationships with other departments across the bank and represent credit control to both internal and external stakeholders. The role is likely to involve an element of overseas travel.

Key Work Outputs Accountabilities

  • Complete credit applications, in line with BACB policy & procedures. It is expected that the role holder will work closely with the front office and other credit managers. These will often involve complex transactions and will require the role holder to consider alternative structures. The role holder will be expected to discuss these with Senior Management, advising on key material risks with a firm recommendation.
  • The role will focus on Corporates, Real Estate, and Islamic Finance products, and the role holder will be the “go to” person within credit control for these areas. They will be expected to provide support by challenging, advising and giving opinions to protect the Bank from losses arising from credit, political, market and operational risk.
  • Accountable for management and monitoring of exposures and ensuring that we have robust procedures in place to track, escalate and monitor any concerns at both client and industry level.
  • Support the broader business through the review and development of the associated Product programmes and appetite for the business segments and strategic growth initiatives.
  • Mentoring/ coaching junior analysts and training across the bank.
  • Adopt ad hoc workstreams from time to time. This will include assisting the Head of Credit with credit policy, procedures and governance and presenting these to senior management and across the wider bank.

  • The role holder will be expected to work largely unsupervised, be able to manage workflow to ensure that we meet agreed deadlines and build strong working relationship with key partners across the bank. The role holder will also be expected to present to senior management on a regular basis.
  • Own the development and implementation of the credit risk procedures in relation to the business sectors covered. Be able to challenge these and drive change.
  • Assist the Head of Credit with the adoption and embedding of Basle 3.1 - accountable for ensuring that we are aware of any associated regulation issues covering the relevant business sectors, analysing the possible impact on the bank and recommending actions.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience of credit analysis of Large Corporates
  • Specialist knowledge and experience of Real Estate and Islamic Finance products, ideally at a tier 1 bank with personal delegated lending authority
  • Experience of working in trade finance as well as emerging markets
  • Strong working knowledge of rating methodology and corporate rating models.
