BACB Celebrates Long-Serving Colleague Steve Cook

BACB Together

As we commemorate our 50th Anniversary this year, we want to celebrate the contribution of some of our longest serving colleagues who have been vital in making BACB what it is today.

On Thursday 5th May, we welcomed Steve Cook back to the office for a well-deserved – and somewhat belated – retirement dinner.

Steve retired in April 2020 after 44 years of service, but due to the pandemic we were unable to give him a suitable send off at the time. Joined by former and current colleagues, it was a chance for us to thank Steve for his contribution and share some stories from over the years.

Steve joined the Bank, then called UBAF Ltd, in 1976 at our first offices at St Helen’s Undershaft. He played an important role in the move to Gresham Street and, as Director of Facilities Management, oversaw the move to our current premises at Mansion House Place in 2000.

At Mansion House Place, Steve led several environmental initiatives. His efforts were regularly recognised by the London Clean City Awards – including winning the Chairman’s Cup twice. He continues to be an active member of the Institute of Workplace & Facilities Management, having formerly served as Chairman.

From everyone at BACB, we wish Steve a long and happy retirement!
